EasyWeb

EasyWeb (or EnkelNät) is a web site management script thing. It's not a huge system that can do everything, but it is useful enough to be the basis for this site. :-)

Some useful info:

• It's written in perl and runs through CGI.
• It creates .shtml files so that the actual site will not use any CGI, PHP or similar stuff. This means that the sites can be very fast even on a system where CGI and PHP is very slow.
• It's rather simple to use.
• Sites are automagically created so that they can be viewd in two different ways (use the links above the menu in this site to check it out):
  1. With frames and stuff, using one style sheet.
  2. Without frames, using another (preferably empty) style sheet.
     In this mode, some pictures will be replaced with links as well.
• It uses EtText with additions, wich means that one can enter text in HTML, as simple text, and mixed. It all works fine when the stuff is published. :-)

The stuff here so far lacks documentation. Both for installation and for use (the text code stuff really needs to be documented for users). It does work though.

Installation

To install it start by installing all modules the script seems to require. After you've installed EtText, move EasyWebGlossary.pm to the Text/EtText directory in your perl's library.

Once the modules are there, make sure that $datadir in common.pl suits your servers directory structure, and then simply put *.cgi and *.pl from the EasyWeb archive in the sites document root.
After this, access admin.cgi directly and enter a password!
